15.3% of Inexperienced Workers Find Logistics Driving Jobs “Attractive”; Top Concerns Are Physical Demands and Safety
Key to Talent Acquisition: Clear, Reassuring Job Conditions and Trial Work Opportunities
Camcom Group’s Logitech Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Logitech”; headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo; President: Takashi Nawata), which aims to solve social challenges related to “work” through business, conducted a survey on job perceptions and work-related values among individuals with no prior experience as logistics drivers.
The results revealed that while presenting concrete working conditions can attract interest from a certain segment of inexperienced individuals, there is also a strong demand for “trial employment” opportunities that help lower psychological and physical barriers.
Highlights of the Survey Results
- With clear job conditions presented, 15.3% of inexperienced individuals found logistics driving jobs “attractive.”
- Key sources of appeal include stable income (56.8%), ease of entry without prior experience (41.2%), and simple interpersonal relationships (34.1%)
- Main concerns include physical demands (42.6%), long working hours (41.8%), and fear of accidents
- Many respondents prefer starting with short-term trial work (25.3%) or working a few days per week (26.1%)
Growing Shortage of Logistics Drivers
With the enforcement of the revised Logistics Efficiency Act scheduled for April 2026, the logistics industry is entering a major turning point. In addition, the impact of overtime work regulations introduced in 2024 (the “2024 issue”) has intensified labor shortages.
As of October 2025, the job-offer-to-applicant ratio for automobile drivers, including truck drivers, stands at 2.59, significantly exceeding the overall average of 1.18 (*1), highlighting the severity of the situation.
Logitech conducted this survey based on the belief that expanding recruitment beyond experienced workers to include inexperienced and potential candidates is essential for growing the logistics labor market.

Detailed Findings
1. Clear Conditions Increase Interest — 1 in 6 Finds the Job Attractive

When presented with specific working conditions (*2), 15.3% of respondents expressed interest in logistics driver positions.
This indicates that clearly outlining realistic working conditions that support daily life is a crucial first step in attracting potential candidates.
*2 Example conditions presented:
Employment type: temporary staff
Wage: hourly ¥1,650–¥1,800
Working hours: shift-based or fixed (day/night shifts)
Holidays: two days off per week or shift system
Benefits: full social insurance, opportunity for full-time employment
Advantages: no experience required, license holders eligible, more independent work time, simple interpersonal relationships
2. Key Expectations: “Stability” and “Autonomy”

The most cited appeal was stable income (56.8%), followed by ease of entry without experience (41.2%) and simple, low-stress human relationships (34.1%).
These findings suggest that the autonomy to work at one’s own pace with limited interpersonal complexity aligns well with modern job seekers’ values.
3. Concerns Center on “Work Environment” and “Safety”

On the other hand, major concerns include physical strain (42.6%) and long working hours or difficulty taking time off (41.8%).
Additionally, concerns about traffic accidents were frequently mentioned in open-ended responses.
Addressing these concerns and establishing systems that ensure safety will be essential.
4. Preference for “Small-Step” Entry

When asked how they would prefer to start, 25.3% chose short-term trial employment (e.g., limited to three months), while 26.1% preferred part-time or limited-day schedules.
These results suggest that lowering psychological barriers through trial opportunities can be a decisive factor in recruitment.
Three Key Factors for Successfully Hiring Inexperienced Workers
1. Quantifying job conditions
Clearly present salary, working hours, and holidays to help candidates visualize their lifestyle.
2. Communicating the true value of the job (autonomy)
Emphasize not only driving skills but also the ability to work independently and make decisions.
3. Establishing trial employment systems
Provide short-term and flexible work options, along with training systems that create a sense of security.
